fun facts

What are your credentials?

I have a Master’s in Public Health from the University of South Carolina, and I have been a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) since 2016.

As of 2025, I am in the dissertation phase of my Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), where I am exploring the link between specific adverse childhood experiences and cervical cancer screening among women in South Carolina.

In 2024, I earned my certification as a Women’s Hormone Health Practitioner from the Institute of Menstrual Health!

Why focus on menstrual health?

Luna Wellness was founded on the realization that girls entering puberty do not receive adequate education about their bodily changes and their menstrual cycles. We are taught that menstrual cramps, heavy periods, and migraines are normal, and there is nothing that we can do to feel better. We are told to just deal with it. As I entered my 40s, I was diagnosed with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and this was life-changing! I finally gained the knowledge to begin the journey of understanding my body; but, it was also disheartening that I spent decades of my life living in hopeless misery, believing that there was no way to feel better.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in South Carolina, USA! I have lived in various cities in the southern US, including Atlanta, GA, and Huntsville, AL. I currently reside with my family in Columbia, SC.

What are three of your favorite things to do?

First and foremost, I love spending time with my family and friends. My son is my favorite human, and I enjoy spending as much time with him as possible.

Second, is exercise! In July 2024, I joined a local womens-only gym where I focus on weightlifting and conditioning. There is something so beautiful when women come together to support each other through our celebrations and our trials. It inspired me to found Luna Wellness, LLC, to educate girls and women about menstrual health.

Third is a tie between crafting and reading. My partner and I run a crafting business together, BellaWillow Designs, where we create resin art, vinyl decals, and more.

I have always been an avid reader, and I spend a lot of my evenings curled up with a good book to relax after a long day. Some of my favorite authors are Milan Kundera, Margaret Atwood, Charmaine Wilkerson, and Leonard Cohen.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I would love to dedicate 100% of my work energy to supporting women and their health and well-being. I would also love to be living on a large plot of land, where my family and I can grow our own food, host bonfires, and just be.
